Credit
card information, or any data, sent directly over the Internet is considered
to be at risk and not secure if that information has not been encoded or
encrypted prior to transmission. Any
serious discussion of Secure Credit Card Transactions must address two
major periods during which credit card information is at risk.
1.
the Bank Processing period in which credit card info is processed or transmitted
to the bank
and
2.
the Online Transactions period in which the initial transfer of credit
card info occurs from your customer to your IP site and to you (including
the storage of that info), prior to or independent of any processing with
your bank.
